Mayor Evans Proclaims June as National Scoliosis Awareness Month in OlaRose Ndubuisi’s Honor

On June 29th, 2024 at the Finding Scoliosis Kindly Educational Symposium, Mayor Malik D. Evans proclaimed June as National Scoliosis Awareness Month in the City of Rochester, NY in OlaRose Ndubuisi’s honor. His opening remarks were very inspiring, heartfelt, and OlaRose appreciated Mayor Evans’ support of the event. You can watch a video of his opening remarks here.

The proclamation recognizes OlaRose’s personal scoliosis journey, scoliosis advocacy through The Finding Scoliosis Kindly Project, and the importance of raising scoliosis awareness, saying, “Whereas OlaRose Ndubuisi has organized the Finding Scoliosis Kindly Educational Symposium, to be held on June 29, 2024, at the Henrietta Public Library, where she will continue her mission to educate and support those affected by scoliosis; and whereas The City of Rochester recognizes the importance of supporting initiatives like the FiSK Project and applauds OlaRose Ndubuisi for her outstanding contributions to scoliosis awareness and her exemplary leadership as the New York State’s Youth Poet Laureate.”

Mayor Evans’ proclamation is a motivating milestone for OlaRose in her scoliosis journey, and an incredible step towards raising scoliosis awareness in Rochester, New York State, and nationally. OlaRose says, “Advocating for scoliosis awareness in our own cities and states, working with local and state leaders, and our collective efforts of compassion can help children and adults with scoliosis nationally.”
