On July 3rd, 2024, 17-year-old OlaRose Ndubuisi was invited to meet with Senator Schumer’s Rochester team, including Deputy Regional Director Mr. Bernard Alexander, to discuss her scoliosis advocacy and to raise awareness for Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis.
At the meeting, OlaRose advocated for June to be proclaimed as National Scoliosis Awareness Month in New York State and nationally. She also presented her modifications to the current New York State Scoliosis Screening Guidelines to be more inclusive and effective in detecting scoliosis in both adolescent boys and girls in middle and high school.
OlaRose looks forward to future collaborations in raising scoliosis awareness in the community and nationally.
